BLOGGURU – Alhamdulillah, satu kesyukuran dan kebahagiaan tersendiri dapat mereguk nikmatnya menuntut ilmu dan pembelajaran tanpa batas. Semuanya ini dapat terwujud atas berkah waktu luang, kesempatan, dan kesehatan yang baik. Hari ini, Ahad pagi (21/9/2025), saat berada di Hotspot Center dalam Lingkungan Ponpes Modern Putri IMMIM Minasatene-Pangkep, penulis menyempatkan mengikuti 2 Free Courses “Society, Politics & Law” di situs OpenLearn, the Open University yang berpusat di Inggris, dengan kampus utama di Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Inggris (United Kingdom).
Kedua pada Menu “Society, Politics & Law” OpenLearn The Open University ini sudah lama penulis akrabi materi dan sebenarnya merupakan pengulangan (muraja’ah) materi pembelajaran tentang Masyarakat, Politik dan Hukum. Kedua Kursus yang penulis ikuti ini bersifat Free (gratis) di situs OpenLearn, termasuk sertifikat tanda penyelesaian kursus yang disebut “Statement of Participation”.

Free course: Introducing International Relations (8 hours study, Level 1: Introductory)
In this free course you will be introduced to the subject of International Relations (IR). Drawn from the undergraduate module D228 Exploring international relations: actors, issues, perspectives, it will give you an insight into this fascinating area of study. You will learn how IR seeks to analyse vital global problems and the key actors and issues involved. In the course you will explore two contemporary case studies: the competition between great powers like the USA and China for access to Africa’s resources; and the global efforts to combat international terrorism. You will come away with an insight into how to analyse and understand international affairs.
This OpenLearn course is an adapted extract from the Open University course D228 Exploring international relations: actors, issues, perspectives.
Course Learning Outcomes:
After studying this course, you should be able to: (1) understand what International Relations is, and how International Relations is studied, (2) understand two contemporary examples of international relations: great powers in Africa and international terrorism, (3) demonstrate knowledge of the kinds of problems and questions International Relations as an academic subject tries to address, (4) identify some of the different actors and issues shaping international relations, and (5) have an awareness of different perspectives and debates on international relations.
