BLOGGURU – Alhamdulillah, satu kesyukuran dan kebahagiaan tersendiri dapat mereguk nikmatnya menuntut ilmu dan pembelajaran tanpa batas. Semuanya ini dapat terwujud atas berkah waktu luang, kesempatan, dan kesehatan yang baik. Hari ini, Kamis (25/9/2025), penulis mengikuti 3 kursus “Getting Started With Spanish” (1-2-3) di situs OpenLearn, the Open University yang berpusat di Inggris, dengan kampus utama di Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Inggris (United Kingdom).

The Open University ini sudah lama penulis akrabi pembelajaran jarak jauh yang ditawarkannya. Semua bersifat Free (gratis) di situs OpenLearn, termasuk sertifikat tanda penyelesaian kursus yang disebut “Statement of Participation”. Tiga Kursus yang penulis selesaikan hari ini, Kamis (25/9/2025) adalah sebagai berikut (lengkap dengan deskripsi kursusnya dalam Bahasa Inggris):

Free Course: Getting started with Spanish 1 (8 hours study, Level 1: Introductory)

If you want to learn a new language for work or for leisure, this free course will introduce you to one of the most widely spoken languages in the world – Spanish. Whether this is the first time that you are learning Spanish, or you have already picked up some words and phrases from travelling across the Spanish-speaking world, this course is for you.

This introduction offers the perfect opportunity to develop the skills needed to communicate effectively in Spanish in everyday contexts.

This OpenLearn course is an extract from the beginning of the Open Centre for Languages and Cultures short course, LGXS001 Beginners Spanish 1: ¡Empezamos! After completing this free course, you may wish to register for the full course to continue your learning.

Course Learning Outcomes

After studying this course, you should be able to: (1) pronounce vowel sounds and the letter ‘h’ in Spanish. (2) understand how to type the special characters á é ñ ¿. (3) make introductions using both formal and informal expressions. (4) greet people at different times of the day. (5) recognise the value of keeping a language notebook.

Free Course: Getting started with Spanish 2 (6 hours study, Level 1: Introductory)

This free course is your next step to continue your journey learning Spanish, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. You should have some knowledge of Spanish, either because you have studied Getting started with Spanish 1 or because you have learned Spanish elsewhere.

In this free course you will work with audio and interactive activities to practise the skills you need to talk about everyday activities you do, including how to tell the time. You will also learn the present tense form of some common verbs and how to pronounce the ‘r’ sound.

This OpenLearn course is an extract from the beginning of the Open Centre for Languages and Cultures short course LGXS002: Beginners Spanish 2: ¡En marcha! After completing this free course, you may wish to register for the full course to continue your learning.

Course Learning Outcomes

After studying this course, you should be able to: (1) ask the time, and tell the time to others, (2) develop pronunciation, fluency and intonation through practice, (3) conjugate verbs in the present tense, (4) report on daily routines and favoured activities, and (5) appreciate the different ‘r’ sounds in the Spanish language.

Free Course: Getting started with Spanish 3 (8 hours study, Level 1: Introductory)

This free course will take you some steps further in your journey toward learning Spanish. You should have some previous knowledge of Spanish, whether you have studied Getting Started with Spanish 1 and Getting Started with Spanish 2, or because you have learned Spanish elsewhere.

This free course will allow you to practise some very useful skills, such as how to greet people in different contexts, how to invite friends to go out with you, and how to accept or decline their invitations.

This OpenLearn course is an extract from the beginning of the Open Centre for Languages and Cultures short course LGXS003 Beginners Spanish 3: ¡Adelante! After completing this free course, you may wish to register for the full course to continue your learning.

Course Learning Outcomes:

After studying this course, you should be able to: (1) greet people in different contexts. (2) invite friends to go out with you, and accept or decline their invitations. (3) find preferred ways of recording and organising new vocabulary. (4) interpret information from tone and intonation, and (5) hold formal conversation over the phone, and leave messages.
